Dr. Simon is a Consultant Rheumatologist with special interests in Translational Research and Rheumatology care delivery

Since 2008, he has worked part-time as a consultant in the Royal Melbourne Hospital Rheumatology. His current role encompasses inpatient and outpatient care and administrative responsibilities, as well as teaching and mentoring of junior medical staff and medical students.  

He also maintains an interest in Translational Research following his PhD at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. He continues to be involved with the management of the Arthritis Tissue Bank, a research platform and liases with basic scientists in terms of study design and sample acquisition.

Simon is committed to academic medical practice and plans to play an ongoing role in meeting the challenges of providing quality rheumatology care in an academic centre and integrating care with the broader community.

1 Multi-Step Procedure: The assessment is a detailed process with several steps. It might take multiple appointments to fully evaluate your child's condition.

‍2 Review of Notes and Results: With consent from the parents/carers, our paediatricians will carefully review various notes and investigation results, like medical records, previous assessments, and relevant tests. This helps them understand your child's medical, developmental, and behavioural history. If you have any reports that may be relevant, please send them through before the appointment.

‍3 Collaboration with Others: To make an accurate diagnosis, our paediatricians work with other healthcare professionals, educators, and caregivers involved in your child's care. This collaboration provides a better understanding of your child's unique situation.

This is going to make things so much easier for our demographic. We have a lot of low socio-economic patients, so the option to bulk-bill is great. And it will make appointments easier.
